I admit, however, that sometimes we can be wrong from time to time. This server is really great, especially for "beginners" like me. Even if Netgear has taken over from zero to its operating system, malfunction gigantic disturb the daily use of the NAS. Without going into details: after I ripped out the hair to try to set up permissions for a differentiated, I am resolved to abandon and ongoing use of the admin account for SMB/CIFS shares. The third party applications provided are few in number and poorly packaged. The client btsync, for example, does not save its configuration (still a rights issue), which means that it loses its settings at every reboot. The other apps I have installed have obviously not been tested, and behave erratically, even on their basic functions (CouchPotato fails on the enumeration of files, videos,...), Really not professional at all: it looks like the apps have been put in the store just to give a false impression of abundance. Very good product but the volume expansion takes a lot of time in my case most of 2 days to 4 TBmuch more reliable than the simple usb overlan with just 2 emboutsce case was ultra simple to set up and launch in spite of employment through 2 switchme is currently used to connect a controller pc next to my tvStable system, speed correct, the disk are of the house mother so not bad (hard drive 'Green') No vibration once started, the disk head they are a little noisy but not annoying.. The HS-251 is my first NAS and I use it since several months at home. The design of type box is really perfect for putting the device on the cabinet of the tv. It makes no noise, and to tell the truth, it blends so much into the background that we tend to forget that it is there. The neat design and not plastiqué from anywhere using well. As to the decision in hand, the install of various applications is very simple, even for newbies like me. I had a problem when first connecting to my HDMI monitor (a tv Vizio that has about a year and a half) but the technical support I resolved it on. QNAP has a good reputation and for me I needed a NAS with HDMI that is not in the format tower to store all the films, so the HS251 appeared as an evidence. It already stores more than 100 films in HD and I still have a lot of room. On the big files that the transcoding sometimes puts a little bit of time, I recommend to transcode the movies in advance to be sure that it is smooth even on videos of several Giga.
